Arsenal FC transfer news and rumours About Sanchez: Gunners to use Alexis Sanchez in swap deal for Juventus Midfielder Miralem Pjanic?
More that Gunner Manager Arsene Wenger insists his side are ‘tougher and more relentless’ this year, and Santi Cazorla is set to extend his Gunners contract.
Pjanic is reportedly on Arsenal’s radar
Gunner will use Alexis Sanchez as bait in a swap deal to land Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic to Emirates.
This news is according to Famous Spanish Don Balon, who say that the Gunners are willing to use the 28-year-old to try and land their target to Arsenal.
Sanchez’s Contracts at the Emirates runs out at the end of 2017/18 season and he still hasn’t put pen to paper on a new deal.
The Chile international is the Premier League’s joint-top goal scorer this season with 14 strikes so far with Diego Costa.
Arsene Wenger has hailed his team’s new-found tenacity and predicts Danny Welbeck will give their title push a cutting edge.
But the Gunner manager has been encouraged by the Gunners ’ recent record against clubs just below the top four – including a last-gasp 1-0 win over these Clarets in October’s reverse fixture.
“We are tougher,” said Wenger. “We are certainly more relentless. If you look at the numbers, we are the team that has scored more goals than anyone else in the last five minutes.
“And we are the team that has scored 14 goals, with people coming off the bench. So, we also have more attacking weapons. When I look around me at the bench, I always think, ‘If he comes on, he can give you something’.”
Cazorla set for Gunners stay till 2018
Arsenal have taken up the year’s option in Santi Cazorla’s contract at the Emirates.
The Spanish midfielder, 32, had been due to see his deal expire at the end of the current season, writes Mirror Football’s Alex Richards.
But an FA document has revealed that the player – who hasn’t featured since October due to injury – had the option taken up last month, on December 20.
The Gunners moved swiftly to file the relevant paperwork with the FA, to avoid a situation which would see Cazorla eligible to speak to foreign clubs about a summer free transfer from January 1.
Cazorla’s deal will now expire in 2018.
